What is California Title 20?

If a product complies with Title 20, that means it meets the energy efficiency standards set by the California Energy Commission. This impacts three main categories of lighting: state-regulated LED lamps, state-regulated small diameter directional lamps, and state-regulated general service lamps.

To be Title 20-compliant, bulbs must produce light for general illumination with a brightness less than or equal to 2600 lumens, and greater than or equal 200 lumens.

LED bulbs not only bring down your energy bills but are also more environmentally friendly when compared to incandescent bulbs and compact fluorescent lights (CFLs). LED bulbs contribute the least amount of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere of all lighting sources. LED bulbs consume less power per unit of light emitted. This reduces greenhouse emissions from power plants. Carbon dioxide emissions for LEDs are also low. One LED bulb will minimize greenhouse gas emissions by almost half a ton.
