Outdoor Lights and Fixtures are tools that will add value and security to any property. With a play of light and shadows, professional lighting design and parts help you to enjoy the beauty of the outdoors, even when it's dark out. Your landscape can transform into something more dramatic with well-placed outdoor spotlights and washes, creating interesting patterns and shadows, and highlighting the best features of your property.

Outdoor landscape lighting adds beauty, character, and safety, whether it's a floodlight covering a large area for security, or a visually impactful, energy-efficient LED light arrangement bordering your decks and pathways. LED outdoor landscape lighting can be one of the best investments you make to enhance the unique styling of your outdoor space while simultaneously offering functionality and peace of mind. Automatic timers, photocells, or motion sensors (that turn lights on at dusk and off at dawn) make landscape lighting convenient, all while saving you money.

GoodBulb offers a variety of LED outdoor fixtures to help you celebrate the darkness when the sun goes down. Contact our lighting experts and together we can add value to your property, as well as increase the safety of your surroundings while boosting the overall security of your home!

Light Bulb Moments

When it comes to your home, most people prefer a cozier feel with regard to lighting design. Ideally, this "cozy zone" falls somewhere in the range of 2700K to 3000K, and is considered a warm light range. The lower the color temperature is, the more yellow the light cast becomes. Whatever the color temperature you choose, though, you must keep in mind that the aesthetic of your space will change based on the color of light present in the room. This can affect the appearance of anything from the paint on the walls to the color of your furniture, and some people have even reported physical effects based on the lighting of a space! That said, it is important to take your lighting design into account when remodeling or refurbishing any room, especially when painting will be involved.

A 2700K color temperature offers a very soothing and natural tone that mimics the warm, comforting glow of a campfire. As such, it is ideal for creating relaxing, comfortable outdoor environments. A 3000K color temperature also offers this relaxing feel but offers a slightly cooler touch by bringing in more blue and white tones to the lighting cast. If you are going for a more vibrant feel or want to highlight specific features of your space, opt for higher color temperature lamps. Just remember that if you go too high, say 5000K to 6000K, this can cause discomfort for some or make it more difficult to relax given such bright, white light being present.

Did You Know?

Navigation is difficult without light, and it stands to reason that early explorers and settlers developed systems to help in this area wherever possible. These systems included basic tools like the torch but relied heavily upon nature's original lamp posts, the stars, as a guide.

Polaris, more commonly referred to as the North Star, in particular, is unmoving in the night sky in that it is a constant beacon by which travelers past and present would look to in finding their way. Locating Polaris, though, is not as simple as looking upward and recognizing it without practice. To find it, the most common method is to use "pointer stars" such as those found on on the edge of "Plough", the Big Dipper or Saucepan constellation, opposite its handle. These stars are called Merak and Dubhe. Follow these stars toward the "mouth" of the Big Dipper or Saucepan - where the liquid would come out if it were a really big spoon - and measure 5x the distance of Merak-Dubhe to find Polaris and gain your bearings. Good info to remember next time you find yourself wandering aimlessly in the woods!
