Welcome back to the wonderful world of Compact Fluorescents or CFLs. I was talking to my warehouse and shipping Guru and he told me that his family prefers CFLs compared to Incandescent and LED. I looked at him a bit surprised and he explained how they use CFLs in the kitchen, bathrooms, closets and the garage. He told me they prefer a bulb that slowly warms up and slowly reaches full brightness compared to the Instant On you see with Incandescent and LED. I then started to wonder if my talented warehouse guru was drinking too much and that's why he preferred this. Ha, I'm absolutely joking, he's such a good kid and would never abuse substances like that. This conversation did remind me that No two customers are alike, and no two lighting use goals are the same. It's our job at GoodBulb to make sure we work with your company on many levels and determine the right product for your needs. What will make you happy - Will make use happy.
My mom is a retired AP Chemistry teacher and she talks about how they used to play with Mercury as kids, rolling it around in their hands. Can you imagine our kids playing with Mercury in science class today. But then again, we also used to make ash trays in art class... Think about that. Mercury is an essential element in fluorescent lighting and allows the bulb to actually light up. Because CFLs contain trace amounts of mercury, it is important to educate yourself on proper use, recycling and disposal of these bulbs.
Fun Fact time... The U.S. is the largest consumer of electricity, and 70% of that electricity is generated using fossil fuels like natural gas, coal, petroleum. Only 7% is generated from renewable sources such as hydroelectric, wind, and solar. When you decide to reduce energy consumption in your home or business the impact on the environment is real and makes a difference. It only takes one CFL in each American household to save enough energy to light more than 3 million homes for a year and prevent 9 billion pounds of greenhouse gas emissions per year, equivalent to the emissions of about 800,000 cars.
Thanks again for listening and if you have any questions just call a lighting specialist at GoodBulb 1.701.205.4953 and please share any good plant based recipes if you have one.
